Have you ever found yourself stuck—doing the same thing again and again because it should work, but for some reason, it just... doesn’t?
You’re not alone. It’s frustrating, and honestly, it can make you feel a little crazy. But it’s actually a sign that there’s something deeper going on—something under the surface we’re not seeing yet.
So, what can you do instead?
Pause. Step back. And get curious.
Instead of pushing harder, pause and ask: What’s really going on here?
Hear from Melika on why curiosity is a strategic skill that drives smarter decisions and strengthens collaboration.
Systems Thinking invites us to look beyond the events and dig deeper into the patterns & trends, and structures that shape them. One helpful tool is the Iceberg Model–looking beyond the tip of the iceberg that we can see, to what constitutes the iceberg that is below the surface:
Patterns and Trends: What’s been getting better or worse?
Structure: Why is this happening? What are the systems and processes in place that are enabling these patterns and trends?
Mental Models: What are the beliefs, mindsets and assumptions in place that are behind these events?
When we shift our focus below the surface, we gain insight—and from there, real change becomes possible.
